Opened in September 1926 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Arcada is a Venetian-Spanish movie palace turned live-music and entertainment venue that has anchored downtown St. Charles for nearly a century.
Built by Lester and Dellora Norris and opened in September 1926, the Arcada began as a vaudeville and silent-film house whose stage welcomed the touring legends of the era. Beneath its ornate Venetian-Spanish ceilings and golden detail, the intimate room still brings audiences right up close to the stage — from tribute bands and country nights to comedy, magic, and classic-film screenings, the marquee is lit almost every week of the year.
More than a venue, the Arcada is a piece of St. Charles history that has never gone dark: the theater has operated continuously since 1926, holding its corner of Main Street near the Fox River through every era of entertainment. Whether you're here for a concert, a comedy night, a movie, or a wedding, you're stepping into a setting that turns any evening into an occasion.
